The right fragrance can change the ambience in your home, helping you create a personalized feel that suits your style and your personality. Aroma candles are great for a few hours of fragrance but if you want to be greeted with your favorite scent in your home, a reed diffuser is the way to go. The aroma candle just can burn for a few hours, while reeds diffuser can keep scenting for months at a time.

Reed diffuser is a great way to give your home a long-lasting fragrance. Here’s what you need to know about how they work and how to choose the right diffuser sticks to ensure you are getting a premium scent distribution.

How do reed diffusers work?

A reed diffuser consists of four component. First, the bottle is the main body of the reed diffuser which contains the second component, the fragrance oil. Third is the cap to seal the bottle. Fourth, you have the individual reeds you insert through the mouth of the bottle into the fragrance oil.

Diffuser reeds are filled with microscopic channels. As the reed absorb the oil, it travels up the length of reeds. Once it reaches the top, it’s release into the air and the scent along with it. The reeds are almost like tiny straws that draw the scent from the bottle into the air.

Tips for choosing the right diffuser sticks:

Choose the right diffuser sticks is important if you want to enjoy pure, well-balanced scent. Make the wrong choice and the scent can be overwhelming or barely noticeable.

For example, bamboo stick are less effective than rattan sticks. The channels in bamboo stick are interrupted by nodes, it preventing the oil from traveling all the way up the length of the bamboo and dissipating at the top. Rattan stick have clear channel which allow for faster and more even scent distribution. You can find rattan reeds in different diameter and lengths according to your needs.

A high-quality diffuser sticks will last 6-12 months. You'll know it's time to replace the reeds when they become oversaturated and clogged—basically, when they stop releasing fragrance. If you notice the scent weakening after a few months, try turning the reeds before replacing them.

When you buy the reed diffuser stick please consider the capacity and shape of your reed diffuser. The larger the diffuser bottle, the longer the reeds you will need. The length of the reeds should be double the height of the diffuser bottle. You can use as many reeds as will fit in the neck of the bottle. but the more reeds you us the more intense the level of fragrance will be.
