What to know before using a reed diffuser?

In recent years, more and more consumers choose to use reed diffuser as a way to fragrance their homes. This comes as no surprise, as they are environmentally friendly, don’t consume energy and are often made of natural or recycled materials. Unlike candles, they can be left unattended without risking the house on fire.

When it comes to the intensity or potency of the fragrance released by a reed diffuser, it is worth remembering that the material from which the reed is made is almost as important as the perfume itself. The most common sticks are usually made of rattan or synthetic polyester stretch yarn. We call them “Rattan diffuser stick” and “Fiber diffuser Stick”. The fiber diffuser stick are more conducive to evaporation and therefore tend to be used with alcohol-free compositions in order to make up for their slower evaporation rate.

You should also consider the thickness of the reed. The thickness have 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 3.5mm, 4mm, 4.5mm,5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm,10mm etc. For the best performance, we recommend using diffuser reeds approximately 3mm or 4mm thick. The thicker reeds will absorb more oil and thus put more of the scent into the air, but it also meas your diffuser will use up more oil so it won’t last as long.

To improve evaporation, it maybe necessary to turn the sticks over- especially if they are made of rattan wood--to prevent them from becoming clogged. In fact, reeds tend to get dusty and congested over time, which meas they lose efficiency. You should also make sure to place the diffuser in an area with constant foot traffic to help the fragrance spread throughout the room as the air circulates.

In terms of their technical features, the fragrance in reed diffuser are oil based, alcohol based and water based. For different fragrance Formula, we recommend different reed diffuser sticks. Rattan diffuser reeds are suitable for oil base diffuser liquids especially high density oil base diffuser liquids; Fiber diffuser reeds are suitable for most diffuser liquids including oil base diffuser liquids, alcohol based diffuser liquids and water base diffuser liquids. It is difficult for rattan diffuser sticks to absorb pure water, but it is quite easy for fiber sticks to absorb pure water, the reason is the radius of “capillary tubes”in the fiber diffuser sticks is much smaller.

We recommend Reed Diffusers to consumers who looking for a natural, constant balance in the potency of their home fragrance. Unlike scented candles, which only release their scent when lit, the scent of a reed diffuser should remain stable with the product left in the container. A 100ml reed diffuser usually lasts for about 2-3 month. It does depend on the number of reeds used, though. The higher the amount, the stronger the fragrance, but the shorter the duration.
